Psalm 119:147 says: I rise before the dawning of the morning, And cry for help; I hope in Your Word.
Most mornings finds us out of bed and walking two miles before dawn as we prepare for our day. What a joy it is to know our “help” and “hope” are in His Word.
As I (Lance) have been doing initial draft work on the book of Numbers for the Higaunon, I see God’s grace provided repeatedly to Israel, which of course extends to us today. I think of the Higaunon and how they searched for life within their own realm, but of course never found it until The Written Word arrived and gave them HELP and HOPE. What a joy to know that no matter where we are in the world God extends His grace to us. Today I’m in chapter 22 of Numbers – the account of Balaam. I love this work – it’s so much fun!
Praise the Lord with us for not only the new monitor we received last month but now a new desk to put it on. I feel so much more organized with the extra space around me.
Laura is enjoying being in the US – able to pick up the phone and talk to our children, family and friends. She also enjoys shopping and visiting friends in the area. We both enjoy being in church in our own culture – well, there is some adjustment there. There have been a few changes in the church we attend since we were last here. Someone asked about those changes and we said, “Well, we’re used to dirt floors, dogs and chickens walking in and out, nursing babies in the audience; exactly what changes were you referring to?”
We would ask that you pray for Ron & Michelle as they are no longer able to be online. Their satellite internet is down and we are not sure for how long. The company is trying to move everyone to a new satellite and apparently, they have run into a few snags. This is affecting a number of missionaries in the Philippines who use that satellite service. Please also pray for Ron’s knee. He injured it recently while working on the hydro dam. He and Michelle hope it will heal on its own, but just in case, they have made appointments in Australia to see a doctor at the end of next month, should they need to go. It seems a lot like what Michelle experienced a few years ago – and they did go back to Australia where she had knee surgery.
Both our children have had Birthdays this month. We are so thankful for our kids and grand-kids. We sure do miss them.
Thank you for praying for our family as well as for the Higaunon.
Thanks also to each of you who give so we can do what we do.
We and especially the Higaunon, appreciate your part in what God is doing amongst them.
Secure in Jesus,
Lance & Laura
