Greetings once again from the Ostmans!
We trust this finds you doing well and encouraged in the Lord. As we sit here and type this, we realize anew just how much we take things for granted.
We don’t know about you, but we didn’t wake up this morning concerned about contracting some horrifying disease. An email this morning from Ron & Michelle mentions a strain of TB that is resistant to the common drugs used in treating patients. Several people in the village are on a treatment plan but for some, it doesn’t appear to be working. Two of the church leaders pictured here are sick with TB along with others in the village. The one on the right is in the hospital. Please pray!
Since you’re reading this in an email, communication is another thing you probably don’t think twice about. It has become the norm in our everyday lives. The satellite connection in the village is still down. Please pray that the satellite company will fix this soon.
We also didn’t give a second thought this morning when we read our Bibles in our own language. Lance has finished the initial draft of Numbers and is now working on Deuteronomy. This is going very well! Thank you for praying!
Some News
Next week, Lance and Justin, our son in law, will be attending a 3-day conference in Indianapolis. This is the North American Mission Congress, which is about mobilizing the body of Christ to get the gospel to the least reached peoples of the world. Please pray for God’s work in hearts to raise up more laborers and partners. Also pray for safety for travel (by plane) and for the rest of the family without them for those few days.
Praise the Lord with us that Justin and Nicole’s support is at 80% with some potential donors which would bring it up to 85%! Thank you for your continued prayers for them.
When we left the village earlier this year, one of our translation helpers asked us to pray that God would take her to heaven. We heard recently that her prayer was answered. Imbos was a dear woman who loved the Lord and wanted so much to be in His presence. We can’t help but be thankful to God for those Higaunon who are now with the Lord. You all are a part of what God has done and is doing by your prayers and financial support of the ministry. Thank you for your partnership! To God be the glory!
Secure in Christ alone,
Lance & Laura
Lance and Laura Ostman says
Thank you all for praying for Sansuwa’. He is still very weak and there were a few times this week we thought he was going to die. However, we heard from Ron & Michelle that he seems to be doing better since getting a blood transfusion and being on medication for TB. Please continue to pray! Thanks again.
