Life’s adventures…

February 3, 2012 by Lance and Laura Ostman

Thirty years ago

1 Thessalonians 5:24 – Faithful is He who calls you who also will do it!

Some of you remember that this is what we looked like thirty years ago – the rest of you are probably laughing! 🙂 Who would have guessed then that we’d be looking back from this vantage point having experienced so much in life!? God is faithful – that’s for sure!

Thirty years ago on Super Bowl Sunday we boarded a plane in Chicago for Manila, Philippines. Maybe you can imagine how much reminiscing we’ve been doing, as our daughter and her family have now begun their own “adventure” on the other side of the world! (they arrived safely Feb 3rd)

We arrived back in Florida a week ago. Lance got right back into full time translation on Monday this week. He’s working on the book of Judges for the Higaunon. Thank you for praying for him!

I am not alone in having a bad cold and cough, because I know many others have also had it or are still suffering with it like I am. Please pray the cough will clear up so I don’t need antibiotics.

We are less than six weeks from our departure date for our three month visit to the Philippines to check the translation Lance has been working so hard on.

We continue to pray about being able to visit our daughter and her family before our return to the US in June. Our thanks go to those who have expressed an interest in helping with our trip as well as some equipment we need to bring with us.

As always we are so grateful for all of you who partner with us in prayer and financial support. You are making an eternal investment in the Higaunon having God’s Word.

Reports from Ron & Michelle Jennings, our coworkers in the village, say that Sansuwa continues to improve on his TB medication. Thank you for praying for the whole situation with the tuberculosis outbreak. There are many people who have it, who need treatment and restored health.

Please continue to pray for Yandang, the other church leader from “our” village, who is still living out in the city on the coast in a “safe house” while he undergoes treatment. There are days when he really struggles. It’s also been reported that he is experiencing some side effects from the medication. Please pray with us that he would find encouragement from God’s Word.

Secure in Christ’s love,

Laura & Lance
