We are just days away from leaving the village. We have thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship with everyone; our co-workers, Ron & Michelle as we met daily for prayer, and with the Higaunon believers as we visited with them. Lance has finished the initial checking of all he planned on doing as well as gotten a good start into 1 Samuel.
Can you imagine hearing Old Testament stories for the first time? Lance had his translation assistant on the edge of her seat one day as she heard the story of Saul’s rash oath in 1 Samuel 14. She was relieved when we went over the part where Saul’s men intervened for Jonathan. She said she was actually sick to her stomach until we got to verse 45. Would that each of us would have such intense interest in God’s Word!
This past week did not include translation work. The village hosted the bi-annual Higaunon Bible teachers seminar. They asked Lance to take a session on Thursday. The above picture was taken of all those who sat in to hear him share from the Word.
Our time here has gone by very quickly. We so appreciate your prayers and support that allows us to be involved with what God is doing amongst these people. As we look around us here, we see people who are like people anywhere. There are those who are not walking according to truth in the midst of their struggles, and we see others who have a simple, refreshing faith in God as they trust Him for the hard times. Thank you for praying for the Higaunon believers. God is faithful and He will continue to be faithful to work in their lives.
Yandang has been living on the coast being cared for by doctors due to suspected drug resistant TB. He came home today for a visit. It was so good to see him together with his family. As part of the church leadership team, he is sorely missed.
We will be leaving the village this coming Wednesday, the Lord willing. Ron and Michelle will be leaving the following week, heading home to Australia to spend some time with family and supporters. Thank you for praying for each of us as we travel. We are looking forward to spending 10 days with our daughter and her precious family before we head back to the US.
Thank you for praying. We and the Higaunon appreciate it.
Secure in Christ,
Lance & Laura
