Toil under the sun –

June 13, 2022 by Lance and Laura Ostman

We miss our village home.

What profit has a man from all his labor in which he toils under the sun? Ecclesiastes 1:3 (NKJV)

Greetings from warm Oklahoma where the temperatures are in the high 90s and the weather apps are warning of extreme heat. We are very thankful for air-conditioning as we “toil under the sun”.

Translation work

Our answer to The Preacher’s above question is that there is much profit if done for the Kingdom of God. Please pray for Lance as he translates the book of Ecclesiastes for the Higaunon. He enjoys it and finds it challenging. It’s especially challenging when the commentary says, “The syntax of this verse is difficult.” He’s seen that several times. So please pray that he’ll come up with a good rough draft.

Road trip

We are planning, God willing, to travel to Western New York state leaving the 16th. We have not been to some of our partnering churches in that area for several years, so it’s time we visited. Of course, we plan to spend time with family and friends in the area. There are other supporters we hoped to visit this year but due to time constraints, we will not be going any further east.

Our coworkers

Ron and Michelle were planning on returning to Australia this month. When they recently learned that their granddaughter is to be married next March, they changed their plans to leave later this year so they can be there for the wedding. They plan to return to the Philippines soon after. We’ve discussed our plans with them about our return to the Philippines and Lord willing that will happen in February. Please pray for these things.

News from the village

We were recently perusing the Facebook pages the Higaunon use to encourage each other and keep in communication. Among other encouraging posts, one was for a women’s gathering. The theme for their time together was patience in suffering. What a joy to see their desire to grow together in the knowledge of the Word and their love for the Lord.

Please pray for their ministry to continue to expand to other areas that need the gospel.

Thank you

Thank you again for your partnership with us. What a delight it is to serve the Lord these days.

Secure in Christ’s love,

Lance & Laura
