And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17 (NKJV)
Hello from Oklahoma! We continue to be filled with gratitude to the Lord for all He is doing in our midst.
Equip Asia:
In the third week of October, we participated in a retreat in Tennessee with fellow Equip Asia advisors. This allowed us to meet face-to-face with several of our colleagues we had only previously met on video calls. We enjoyed fellowship around the Word, brainstormed some ideas for future courses for students, and enjoyed the beautiful fall colors. Also, Equip Asia is expanding its reach beyond Asia, prompting a name change to Equip.
In our last update, we asked you to pray for Cel, one of our Equip students sick with Thalassemia. She reported this week that the doctor gave her some good and bad news. The good news is that she no longer needs to take the expensive medicine she has been on. She says everyone is amazed at that.
The bad news is that her spleen is enlarged due to her treatments. Please pray that the swelling will go down otherwise. Otherwise, the doctor says they may need to remove her spleen. Thank you for praying for Cel.
Tickets:
Over the past couple of months, we have been monitoring ticket prices for our return to the Philippines. While we were in Tennesee, we saw the price drop. The airline app gave us several error messages, but praise the Lord we finally managed to secure tickets! Our departure is January 13, and our return is scheduled for June 6. Thank you for praying for us as we prepare to return to our jungle village.
News from the village:
You may recall that earlier this year, our house underwent major construction due to termite damage. Since we’ve been away, our office has had work done on it. It had a very spongy floor, caused primarily by poor construction materials. That project is nearly done. We just need to put a floor mat on it when we return and work on some of the wiring.
We recently received a note from one of the Higaunon pastors asking for prayer for their upcoming meetings starting the 13th of this month. This biannual event gathers all the Bible teachers and their wives, the deacons and their wives along with several others. Those in attendance always leave encouraged.
Translation:
Lance continues working on Ezekiel. He has found some very good information, like this 3D view of the temple that can be viewed using an app. It doesn’t look like much in this picture, but it was a great help! Thank you for praying for him. There are just a few chapters left, and he’ll be ready to check his work when we get back to the Philippines.
Family:
We appreciate your prayers for our family. Justin, Nicole, and their kids continue to adjust to being in the States. Perhaps the biggest adjustment lately has been to the germs! Each of them has been sick. Robert and Rhoda are settling into a property they acquired. They have had some challenges due to the work needing to be done with the onset of winter. And our grandson Ean (who is 20) is excited about being hired at the school he’s been attending!
Thank you:
Thanks again for your partnership with us. For those of you who have inquired and are praying about the batteries for our electrical system in the village, thank you. Batteries have been purchased and will be installed soon.
Secure in Christ alone,
Lance & Laura
