Ostman happenings…

December 9, 2009 by Lance and Laura Ostman

Pray for the Higaunon church!
Thank you for praying for the Higaunon church!

Health Happenings:

Thank you all for praying for Laura! We are scheduled to head to town tomorrow (Thursday) to see the doctors and get some tests done. Praise the Lord with us that she is feeling much better over the past few days! The weight loss is concerning though and we need to get to the bottom of it.

Hot off the press happenings!!

One of the Bible teachers from a distant village stopped by for a visit and we thought we’d share with you the report he gave us.

Pogong and his wife Pus-ay have been ministering amongst the people who were saved under Monsing’s ministry. Monsing was killed by insurgents in 1985; his death was directly related to his ministry.

Over the years there has always been the threat of insurgency in that area but this has only led to the strengthening of the church. The believers were living across the river from the main village. Earlier this year, they were asked to move into the main village. They moved and today, they are all praising the Lord for this move.

Two weeks ago, we awoke in the middle of the night to very unusual lightning and thunder, wind and very hard rain; we listened to it for a few minutes and fell back to sleep. The next morning we found that there was a lot of local damage from this flood; several families lost their crops growing along the river!

Since then, the news has filtered in letting us know that this is some of the worst flooding they have ever seen. Pogong told me, “The believers down river are rejoicing that they were asked to move to the main part of the village because the flooding that night would have been devastating as it would have caught them while they were sleeping!”

As you look forward to celebrating Christmas this year, we pray that your focus will be on the Savior, looking forward to His return for His church.

Secure in Christ’s love,

Lance & Laura
