We’re home! July 24, 2019 Thank you everyone SO much for praying for us while we were in Australia! I am sorry I haven’t sent out an update sooner! It has been a crazy time. Basically, we got GOOD news from the doctors! As we shared in our last letter, all of Matt’s tests showed that there was nothing wrong with him from a neurological standpoint. Then they discovered that he has a hole in his heart, so he had to get a transesophageal echocardiogram to get a closer look. The procedure went well, Matt handled the anesthesia ok, and it showed that the type of hole Matt has in his heart is a PFO, which is a common, not concerning type of hole. So, what happened? We don’t really know. They ruled out all of the major things that it could be, so their best guess is that it was caused by either stress or hemiplegic migraines. This type of migraine manifests itself in stroke-like symptoms, but does not do long term damage. Once we got the good news, we breathed a sigh of relief, thanked the Lord, and booked our flights and headed home a week ago Sunday. It was a stressful time, so we are happy to be home. Now we are putting our noses to the grindstone to get ready for teaching. We have less time to prepare now than we planned, so we would appreciate your prayers as we get ready. This will also be a significant life change for our family, as Karissa will be working at school more and Matt will be home with Wyck more. Please pray that the kids will handle this transition well. We felt so loved by the many emails and FaceTime calls that we received. If you haven’t received a reply from us, don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you, we are just trying to get back into the groove of things here. Till all know, Matt, Karissa, Ty, and Wyck Praise God: – that Matt is ok! – God answered prayers about getting Matt in to the doctors he needed to see – He went before us in providing a place to stay and plane tickets – We are back home and ready to do ministry Please Pray: – that insurance will reimburse us for some of our costs – for the kids as they transition to mommy going to work – for us as some friends of ours are moving off the center – that we can get ready for school well This month’s special project: Would you consider giving a gift to help us pay for our medical trip? It cost us $12,000 :(. |
