This past weekend, Naomi ran her first race, a ½ mile kids’ run. Naomi has been “training” for weeks and was so excited…but she got sick the night before and ended up walking and being carried through most of her race. But that didn’t curb her joy for her Gatorade and her trophy at the end.
It reminded us that we can have joy even when we feel weak and look to God to “carry” us. God has given us a task and a goal, but He also asks us to enjoy Him each moment. The past month, we’ve learned to rely more on God as we experience circumstances we can’t control (a broken car, an ever-changing daily routine, grumpy kids during late nights out). We keep learning to fix our eyes on Jesus because our relationship with Him is more important than our tasks. We don’t have to be the fastest “runners.” We can be the people who are carried by God, fully relying on Him.
It’s easy to think that we will be joyful at the end of our time of MPD, and excited to reach the “goal” of arriving at our ministry at the MTC. But watching Naomi race, it reminded us that we have the privilege of walking with Jesus Christ (or being carried!) every day, in every situation. We are still praying faithfully to arrive at the MTC in January. But we are also asking God to carry us to that goal and show us how to walk joyfully with Him in every circumstance. We will be transitioning from spending almost every week at our sending church to visiting different churches weekly as we share about our ministry. We’re excited about the busy season ahead of us but know that we MUST keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.
You lead me in the path of life; I experience absolute joy in Your presence

Another great post. Another great analogy. What a blessing!
I had to look up MPD. I am starting to remember MTC.
