Prayer Letter – January 2006
Greetings from Florida! We trust you had a good Christmas and a good start to the new year. We want to thank you so much for your prayers and support last year as we ministered here at New Tribes Mission headquarters. Even though we are in the States, we are thankful to have the opportunity to help advance tribal missions while taking care of Jackie’s mom.
Bolivia just had their presidential elections. Evo Morales, head of the coca growers, won the election. He takes office on the 22nd of this month. Do be praying that he can solve some of the many problems in that country and also that his taking office will not hinder the work of missionaries serving there.
Our son, Jason and his fiancé, Tiffany, plan on a March wedding. Lord willing we will fly to Phoenix for that. Pray for them as they finalize plans for their big day and for their future together.
We are thankful that Heather was able to spend her holidays with us. She flew back to New Tribes Bible School on the 16th. It is a two year school and this will be her last semester so that makes her a senior now. We hope to travel to Michigan in May for her graduation.
Cody is in 11 grade at Seminole High school. He is doing well in his studies and enjoys Jr. ROTC. He is also enjoying taking a karate class and learning some self defense.
Haley is in the seventh grade at the mission school. She is making good grades and is doing well in her piano lessons. We are thankful that the Lord provided us another piano ( this one ours to keep) when the people we were piano sitting for wanted the other one back. The Lord not ony provides our needs but sometimes our ‘wants’, too!
When not teaching or working in the office, Jackie stays busy playing "chauffeur" for her mom, Cody and Haley. Jackie’s mom spent about 4-5 days in the hospital over the Christmas holidays but is back home and seems to be doing much better now. An answer to prayer for her was that her house sold right after Christmas for which we are very thankful.
Our winter volunteers are back. We are thankful for these men and women who help us get many jobs accomplished around the mission. Wally, a retired kidney doctor turned cabinet maker, is back. I again have the privilege of working with him (not replacing kidneys, but cabinets). Many kitchens in staff apartments need replacing so our labor is much appreciated.
Well, we do appreciate your prayers and support for us. You are an important part of our ministry and of reaching tribal people with the Gospel. May God bless you real good!!
