Merry Christmas from the Burns! 2007
Greetings from our home to yours! Trust you had a nice Thanksgiving with family and friends. We enjoyed visiting with my brother and his family in Stewart, Florida.
We’ll update you on what is happening in our family. Haley stuck with soccer and has had quite a few games. She has gotten to play quite a bit and she really seems to enjoy it. Since her high school is so small they are only playing the smaller schools but the games are just as exciting!
The latest news is that Heather and I (Jackie) are on our way to Bolivia. We both need dental work done. I need one or two root canals and crowns, plus some fillings and Heather needs all 4 of her wisdom teeth cut out. It appears that we can fly down there, visit with folks, get dental work done, fly back and still save money. If we have to spend the money I think I’d rather enjoy spending it than spend it and feel bad about it! We are looking forward to visiting friends in Bolivia and seeing how the work is going and what changes have been made in the 3 ½ years since we have been gone. Because of her classes, the only time Heather can go is right before Christmas. I leave early in the morning (Sat. 12/8) and Heather leaves on the 11th. We will return together. Please be in prayer with us as the political situation in Bolivia is tense right now. This Christmas will definitely be different for us. I return from Bolivia on the 22nd and then am scheduled to leave on the mission trip for Southeast Asia with a group from our church the day after Christmas. I won’t have much time to relax between trips! Also, won’t have much time to spend with family during Christmas. Poor Cody will be coming home from Bible School to see us and I will be gone most of the time! I will write more about the mission trip later and keep you informed.
We just received a call from Jason tonight saying that Tiffany is in the hospital so we could have our first grandchild any minute! We’ll let you know all the details later. I have decided to wait till the baby is a little older to try to go out to Colorado and visit.
Here are a few tidbits from missions around the world:
Papua New Guinea: Pray for missionaries Ralf and Elisabeth Schlegel as they prepare to begin teaching God’s Word to the Dinangat people in January. The Dinangats seem to be excited about the approaching date for teaching.
From Bolivia: Pray for Mike & Cher Riepma, missionaries to the Ese Ejja who plan to teach groups of Ese Ejjas in Peru.
Chimane Radio Station: Bruce & Jan Johnson were able to complete the recording of the Acts lessons with 2 of the Chimane elders, to be aired on radio. At present, they are working on Ephesians. They have also been working with missionaries from the Trinitario tribe recording chronological Bible lessons and other materials in the Trinitario language. They were able to finish the lessons and can now broadcast Bible lessons in the Trinitario language.
That’s about all the news from here. Thanks for your prayers! Trust that all of you will have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Your missionaries to the tribes,
Phil and Jackie
P.S. A special note is that I received all the money needed for my mission trip. Praise the Lord! Thank all of you who prayed and gave to make it possible. We will appreciate your prayers and I will keep you informed.
The other special news is that Jaxon Tovar Burns was born on December 8th!
