It’s already the end of June and we are already wondering where the summer has gone! I am sure you agree that time just flies by too quickly!
Phil is keeping busy in the carpenter shop making window trim for some of the mission apartments. He built some kitchen cabinets on the side for an acquaintance and hopes to make another set in a couple of months – these extra jobs always help out with monthly expenses!
Of course, Jackie is out of school now but still works some in the NTM office. She recently spent a few weeks helping with the U.S. census but that work is over now. She, also, just finished helping with Vacation Bible School at our church. We had a fun week with about 50-60 kids. Jackie helped teach the Bible lessons to all the different age groups who rotated through the Bible class. We had a Montana cowboy theme, so that was a lot of fun! There were several unchurched kids attending so we pray that they will trust Christ if they didn’t during their time in VBS.
All our kids are getting ready to leave us for various places in the next week or so. Heather leaves this weekend to go visit some of our relatives in Montana. She will get home in time to celebrate her birthday with us and then will leave again right away to go to Indonesia for about a week. This trip is with her college ROTC as a cultural experience. Cody will leave July 6 to go to an MK retreat in Pennsylvania for a week. Several of the MKs from the mission will be going. Then Haley leaves the next week to go with a group from our church participating with World Changers in Salt Lake City, Utah. They will help with construction projects for needy families. So, I guess Phil and I will be here pretty much by ourselves during July – we don’t have any plans for traveling this summer.
Missions News:
PAPUA NEW GUINEA: Mengen tribe: Today (June 30) was graduation day for another class of literacy students. Praise God for those who have been faithful to learn to read and write their own language and will now be able to read God’s Word.
BRAZIL: Yanomami tribe:
The Yanomamis have experienced an extremely dry season that has affected their food supply. Missionaries have been paying high prices to have food flown in. Please pray that the love being shown for the Yanomamis’ physical needs will create a hunger for spiritual food.
We want to thank all of you who have prayed and given to help us continue in the greatest job there is: reaching the unreached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We couldn’t do it without the help of faithful Christians who love the Lord! May the Lord bless you real good!!!
