AMERICAN FOOTBALL… ELIAS STYLE

January 22, 2012 by Phil and Elin Henderson

Every now and again daily soccer gets a little boring so Elias decided it was time for his buddies to learn some American football. “Hut, um, dois, tres…” We enjoy watching from the window. Let’s just say it is hard to recognize what we saw as being American football. The sport is complicated enough anyway and Elias doesn’t really have a firm grasp of the rules. Add to this the fact that his ability to communicate the rules to his friends is severely limited. He tried his best with a mixture of hand signals, Portuguese, English and Mwinika to teach them the basics but I am afraid it didn’t quite get through. They did figure out that when they got to a certain area they were supposed to say something that resembled the word “touchdown” but they never figured out why they needed to say it. Here’s a picture we snapped through the window!
