Graduation
After fourteen years of praying, planning, and preparing to serve God as a missionary, I’m finally a missionary! Two weeks ago, I graduated from the Missions Training Center and received my degree in Intercultural Ministries. As of January 1st, I am officially a member of New Tribes Mission! Looking back over the last fourteen years, I can see God’s grace and goodness in my life as He has led me to this point, and I am encouraged to know that God will lead in the future just as He has in the past. After all, this is not the end–it is a beginning.
“What now?” you may be asking. That’s a good question, and the answer is rather anti-climactic. Next week, I will return to Missouri for a semester of Linguistics. This course will prepare me to analyze one of the unwritten languages in Papua New Guinea in preparation for doing Bible translation. Lord willing, I will leave for Papua New Guinea next January (2013) to begin a church-planting ministry focused on Bible translation and discipling ladies.

Promise! That is so cool! The waiting process can be so grinding sometimes and these milestones of celebration are so rich with anticipation! I’d love to commit to praying for you this year–for the preparation process, for the long-term marathon of a journey you are on. Praise the Lord for your heart to learn and serve in this capacity! 🙂 I hope his joy seeps into every facet of your studies this next year!

Congratulations, Promise! We’ll continue to pray that the Lord makes His choice of language groups clear to you. Imagine the joy when people hear His word in their own heart language for the first time!
Love,
Matt

Our dear Promise;
It is joyful to see you excitingly fulfill your dream and ambition.
At this point are you receiving donations through NTM, or will that start next year when you go to PNG?
