October Update

October 21, 2019 by Regina Rodman

How are you doing? Fall is such an exciting time of year. I hope you are able to enjoy the season well.

Computers

Thanks for your prayers for the computer services.  It was busy in the computer shop with just two in the office, but we were able to manage everything.  There are certain things remote team members can and can’t do, so there is a need for harmony, unity.  We are using the Teams app to stay connected and put paperwork in all the right places. This streamlined communication through Teams helps everything work better for our team.

Conferences are held at the home office throughout the year to fill various needs of educational workshops, member care or leadership meetings.  Our team is usually quite busy with requests during those weeks to help with special orders or other needs.  Recently when member care was here for meetings, we set them up with some new computers.  Two computers recently finished were for the Spanish Language Resource team.

Videos

I (Regina) recently filmed a video about one of our staff members here.  We have ordered the voiceover.  Pray that the story and edit will come together quickly, as I look for images from our library to fill in the story.

The Wayumi video was shown for a Pastors convention in June and is now being used by Wayumi to promote the camp.  We focused on the story of Youth Pastor Ben Hazen and how Wayumi helps him pass on his passion for missions to others. You can watch the video online.

Watch Ben’s story here.

In our language

I was recently encouraged by this quote we shared at a church in North Carolina:

Lisa, Bible translator to the Uriay of Papua New Guinea wrote, “We were translating Ephesians 3 and as we got to verses 17-19, Stenli [my translation helper] got choked up as he thought about how wide and high and long and deep the love of God is. He said, ‘The more I understand God’s love, the more strongly I can stand even when disputes and hard times come my way. I won’t fall; no, I can keep standing because I’m standing in God’s love.’ Then he leaned over and side-hugged me and said, ‘Thank you for bringing God’s talk to us in our language. It’s so clear in our language.’”

It’s so exciting to see God’s Word expand to unreached people groups.  So much teamwork goes into building a mature church.  We see the missionaries on the front lines, like the tip of an iceberg above water, but 90% of the mass is underground.  That includes behind-the-scenes missionaries and YOU, our senders and prayer partners.  Together we are building the body of Christ.  Your prayers are such a critical part.  Thank you so much for partnering with us.

Prayer requests:

1. Computer services: pray that things will go smoothly and that we will be able to handle requests that come in as several team members are in and out of the office through January.
2. Clarity as I edit a video about a co-worker.
3. Wisdom as parents, growing in faith and being a blessing to others.
