The Agutaynen village where we live has no source of electricity. During this term, our solar-electric system has been minimal, and not sufficient to meet the needs of our household. We have been thankful to have a generator, which has enabled us to charge our batteries during the evening, to get us by until the next day. With the rising cost of fuel to run the generator, and the increased size of our family, we have seen the need to increase our solar-electric system (ie. panels and batteries), in order to be more cost-efficient. We have planned to “get by” until furlough in 2010, but we have recently been given the opportunity to purchase additional solar panels from someone here on the field. This has caused us to consider making our system better now. If you are interested in helping us with this project, please contact us for more information. (e-mail: stephen_jordan@ntm.org)
Update: Since writing this article a few days ago, we have received news of another critical part needed for upgrading our solar-electric system, a controller. This controller was offered to us at a tremendous savings, but for a very limited time. As a result, we have made the step of faith to purchase this regulator, as well as the solar panels mentioned previously. Please pray with us for the Lord’s provision of the necessary finances. Thank you for partnering with us!
