Fall is a favorite time of the year for us. We have fond memories of walking through pumpkin patches, and jumping in piles of leaves. We reminisce with our children, and look forward to when we are in the States and can do all of the fun fall activities again.
While we are here in the Philippines, we try to make our own memories and remember the reason for the Thanksgiving celebration. Today, November 23, our family made a “Thankful Tree”. Every leaf has a name of a person or an item we thank God for. Of course, our tree is full of leaves, because God has blessed us so much.
This year, we are looking forward to another family coming to spend Thanksgiving weekend with us. They have two small children, the same ages as our boys. We will prepare many of the traditional meal items (substituting chicken for the turkey, local squash for pumpkin). The kids will have a great time playing together. And we look forward to the time to make more memories, and reflect on the bountiful blessings from our Heavenly Father.
So, is your tree full of leaves?
