The first two months here in the States, our priorities are focused on our family needs. At the top of the list is our daughter Abigail’s scoliosis. For the last three years we have monitored her curves but the doctor in the Philippines did not want to put her into the hard shell, uncomfortable brace that is available there. However, upon on arrival back into the States, we took Abigail to a spine specialist here in Michigan and he has ordered a brace for Abigail.
After hearing this news, Abigail made one heartfelt request: “Could we wait until after my birthday before getting the brace?” We feel that God granted her desire, for when we called to make an appointment, nothing was available until after her birthday. Abigail was very happy to hear this news! Together with Ginger, Abigail planned a “cat” birthday and celebrated with some of her best friends.
This Thursday, we will be taking Abigail to be measured and fitted for a more “comfortable” nighttime brace. She will only need to wear this brace at night during her sleep and it hopefully will prevent her curves from increasing anymore. Above all, we ask you to pray for Abigail during this transition and that she will come to a point where she gives God thanks even for her scoliosis.
