Empty House

July 26, 2015 by Stephen and Ginger Jordan

Rebekah with 19 boxes of supplies.
Rebekah with 19 boxes of supplies.

Imagine you have no food in your house, no canned goods, no staples like flour and sugar, not even a grain of salt.  That is our house today in the village . . . empty.  In preparation for our return to the village, we have spent several days purchasing supplies, from “A to Z”: Ant Bait, Basil, Canned Corn, Dish Soap . . . . Yeast, Ziplock Bags.  Not only do we need to purchase these items, we need to purchase enough for 3 months: 36 kilos of flour; 20 kilos of rice; 14 kilos of chicken . . .!  During our first shopping trip, we were able to get most of these items.  After 2 hours of shopping, the receipt was only 6 feet long!  In November, when these supplies are consumed, we get to do it all over again.  As a result, along with having the title “Church Planter”, we also have the title “Supply Buyer”.
