After arising bright and early this morning, 4 am, we picked up our village mechanic, Kuya Jun, and started for the capital city. The first 50 kilometers went smoothly. Then, Stephen looked down at the gas gauge and realized we were losing diesel. We pulled over to the side of the road. Kuya Jun found the leak and quickly fixed it. We were back on the road for only 10 kilometers when the vehicle “died”. We had made it half way to our destination but now it didn’t look too good. At this time, both Luke and Jonathan decided to get on the roof of the vehicle and enjoy the view.
Kuya Jun tried several times to get the vehicle going again, but he couldn’t get the diesel to the engine due to continual blockage. Kuya then recommended we hook up the homemade gas tank again. After another half-an-hour, we were on the road again. Praise the Lord, we made it to the capital city, and went straight to the shop. Several hours later, we received a text that the vehicle was fixed. Praise the Lord! We will remain here in Puerto for a few days to test the vehicle and to purchase 12 weeks of supplies.
