Last night, our family noticed an unusual amount of people gathering on the street in front of our home. And once again this morning, there are several people on the street and a constant flow of people going into our neighbor’s yard. We wondered, “What is going on?”
Well, we suspected and confirmed that today is the first anniversary of the death of our neighbor, Aiza. One year ago, Aiza took her own life at the age of 17.
Before Covid, Aiza often came to youth group and attended Sports Bible Camp. In 2019, Aiza was the Most Valuable Player in Sports Bible Camp and received a trophy.
We know Aiza heard the Gospel message several times, but she never professed Jesus as her Savior, as far as we know.
At Aiza’s gravesite, there are several verses printed (including John 3:16 and John 11:25-26), all sharing the Gospel message. One of these verses is displayed by her friends who are believers, as a testimony of the hope that can be found in Christ alone.
Also, at the gravesite is evidence of prayers made for her soul. During this last year, hundreds of candles have been lit for her, showing that her family is still trusting in their own prayers to get her Aiza to heaven.
Today, Aiza’s family is gathering together to pray for her soul and hope that God will forgive her sins. Today, will you please pray with us for Aiza’s family and for their salvation?
We are thankful that we have been able to have youth group again every week.
Please pray with us that many teens will come, hear the Gospel, and choose Jesus as their Savior while they have life. Thank you.
