Do you remember the day your kids went off to college? We imagine for your family it was a day of emotions, especially if they were traveling a distance away. Your kids were probably excited, anxious, and overwhelmed. And you were probably a little hesitant, or maybe a lot.
Well, that is our family today. Today we sent not just one, but two kids off to college.
Over a year ago, both Abigail and Luke were accepted to attend Ethnos360 Bible Institute in Wisconsin. One would think a year is plenty of time to prepare and enjoy our time together. Yes, it has been a great summer, full of memories. Yes, Ginger has tried to think of and purchase anything Luke and Abigail would need for college. No, our hearts are not ready, as today is the day they leave.
Last night, as a family, we took one last opportunity to spend time together as a family and take a few pictures.
We greatly appreciate your prayers for all of us:
- Abigail and Luke as they travel, adjust to life at college, and seek employment;
- Rebekah as she prepares to begin her last year at Grace Christian University, looks for employment, and hopes to graduate in May;
- Jonathan as he adjust to life without siblings;
- Stephen and Ginger as we give our kids to the Lord, as we have done every day for the last 24 years.
Our hearts are full of pride and love for our kids and that is why our hearts have some sadness, too. But there is hope in our hearts, too. Lord willing, a team will be coming to the Philippines in July 2024 to help us with Sports Bible Camp, and on that team are Rebekah, Abigail, and Luke. That will be a wonderful reunion! More information about this mission trip will be shared soon.
Back to today and our kids leaving, we greatly appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement, both to us and to our kids. We can’t express with words our gratitude to you all, but please receive this “thank you” knowing that this is all we can put into words.
