Last Saturday, we hosted a Celebration of Life for Corinne Palmer. What a life lived for God’s glory! Corrine and her husband Tom worked for decades among the Hamtai people in Papua New Guinea, teaching literacy, and translating God’s Word into their language. Her role in literacy enabled many to read God’s Word in their own language. How could the Hamtai people read God’s Word if no one taught them how to read? What a team Tom and Corrine were for God’s glory!
Corrine herself said it best: “Yes, there may be others who could do this job better than we can, but they are not here; You are, and you must believe and trust God to do it through you.” And God did do it through her and her husband.
Before and after the memorial service, Tom would walk up to the piano and play song after song with no sheet music. He just played what was on his heart.

The memorial service only lasted an hour, but as chaplain, we spent many hours with the family over the last two weeks in preparation. Our desire is to assist and to provide what we can during this time of grief. We met together, planned the order of service, made the bulletin, arranged who would help as a pianist, song leader, audio/visual/zoom operators, and so on. As the memorial service was coming to an end, we quietly got up out of our seats and went to the kitchen to place out the food and refreshments. And then there was clean-up. We are the first to arrive and the last to leave.
You just read a bunch of “us . . . we . . . our . . ,” but it is never about us. It is always for God’s glory and the edification of the family. Thank you for your partnership. Through you, God enables us to serve Him at The Homes of Ethnos360. What about you? What does God have you here to do?
