Over the years, we have noticed the trend of the teenagers has been to grow up in the village, go to college, and move away from the village. Many of them are leaving, without having listened to God’s Word being taught. Also, as our children get older, we see the need for them to have more of a part in the ministry, and to develop better relationships with kids their age. With this in mind, we have begun a chronological Bible study for teenage girls in our home.
Since knowledge of the English language is helpful and even necessary for these girls to do well in both high school and college, we are also teaching some English during the Bible study, using God’s Word as the textbook. This way, our girls are learning more of the Agutaynen language, the girls in the village are learning more English, all are getting good Bible teaching both in English and Agutaynen, and all the girls are building better friendships. We are excited for this new avenue of teaching God’s Word to the Agutaynen teenage girls in our village.
There has been an average of 15 girls meeting in our living room on Saturday mornings, along with our two girls and our partner’s daughter. Please pray for wisdom in how best to incorporate some English into the lessons, and that these girls will have open hearts to receive God’s Word.
