Hi from Haiti,
In June we shared the Dream the Lord had laid on our hearts for a 7-year project to write a chronological Bible curriculum for the Baptist Haiti Mission schools. We know that even if a person plans his course, it is the Lord that directs his steps (Proverbs 16:9). And, after writing our June prayer letter, the Lord has brought to light a couple new considerations that will affect how we are able to press on – which has brought us to a couple of Decisions affecting how we move forward toward this Dream.
First, we learned that we need to re-establish residency in Canada every 5 years, as Canadians working abroad (even though we both now have dual citizenship in Canada and the States.) Then we also learned that we need to be available to have my mom live with us. Mom (Hedy Enns) served with New Tribes Mission over 55 years before her full retirement. Martha and I are therefore planning to move back to the States at the end of October, and by mid-November we will move in with our son & daughter-in-law, Nate & Emily, in Ayr, Ontario.
Both NTM and BHM have agreed that we could continue working on the Creole Bible curriculum from North America, so after our 6-month stint in Canada, to meet this first requirement, we will need to decide where it would be best to settle, to be able to have my mom live with us: maybe in our home in Alabama.
So we covet your prayers for us, as we make decisions regarding:
– disposing of our things here in Haiti;
– buying a car and setting up ministry from North America;
– on-going needs for developing a school Bible curriculum for grades 3-9 that could teach from Genesis to Revelations.
Do praise the Lord with us for:
– funds that have come in to develop this Creole Bible curriculum for Haiti*;
– ministry connections we have made here in Haiti which keep our dreams going;
– prayer partners like you, who enable us to serve Him wherever He sends us.
Man proposes, God disposes! And we seek to be flexible to His leading,
Theo & Martha Enns
* Gifts that are designated for the Haitian Creole Bible project will still go 100% to that ministry project.
