Settling in in October 2016

After spending the month of August in Senegal, West Africa, it seemed like September just flew by as we continued our house renovations in preparation for having my mom come live with us. We painted, added a set of French doors, opened up an on-suite bathroom for mom’s bedroom (along with other projects), and our church friends here in Alabama provided for us to be able to remove all the carpet from our house to install vinyl laminate flooring. Mom is settling in well – after living almost four years with my sister in Missouri, a short time with my brother in Mississippi, and finally moving in with us Sept.24th. Martha and I are also learning our new routines, as we partner with the West African NTM team for equipping African workers for cross-cultural church-planting.

Senegal will be hosting a pilot training program this November, to train African believers on how to be effective in reaching out to neighboring language groups who still need the Gospel. The training will be done in French, although the end-goal is to equip them in how to minister in the heart languages of the people. The training modules will be spread out over several years, and the course materials still need to be translated into French. These training resources will eventually be available online, and a French website set up both for encouraging candidates and for informing prayer and financial partners. My ministry will be mostly in helping develop, translate into French and contextualize these resources for these African church-planting workers – from our office at home here in Rainsville.

.

Do pray with us:

– As I settle into a full-time translation routine for French church-planting resources;

– As Mom Enns settles in to living with Martha and I in Alabama;

– As I seek to translate into French correctly and relevantly for the African context.

You can praise the Lord with us for:

– my August trip to Africa reconnecting with the NTM leadership & needs there;

– the house renovations we were able to complete for our home here; and…

– His grace, health and joy for all 3 of us as we serve Him together.

Grateful for your partnership in ministry,
