We’re happy to report that we are safe and sound in the capital city. Thanks for your prayers. Although our first set of covid tests didn’t make it back in time, we were able to find another testing location on the way to the airport that gave us results in one hour (negative! PTL). We didn’t know that was even possible until the day before when one of our leaders recommended it.
This journey is definitely a process that must be taken one-thing-at-a-time: get paperwork for the baby, buy tickets, pack, get covid tests, say goodbyes, check in, (quite stressful since so many, including ourselves, have been rejected by airlines for any number of reasons these days) endure the long hours of flights and layovers, finally land and go through the 5-6 checkpoints for paperwork, new covid tests, immigration and customs, after which we had to go straight to a designated quarantine hotel.
I say we “had” to go but it feels more like we “got” to go because it has been so nice to have this designated time to recover and deal with jet-lag. Thank you Lord for bringing us through each step. The girls did well considering everything. We are actually enjoying our time here in quarantine, playing lots of games, dancing like ballerinas, reading books, running back and forth, and entertaining baby sis.
In reality, all kinds of things could have held us up along the way but God really seemed to have cleared the way for us. Praise Him! He is worthy of it all. We do miss home already but we’re glad to be here. Your prayers and support through this have been amazing! We love you guys.
Next up
As of today, we are halfway through our quarantine. Tickets have been bought for our next leg of 1,700 miles and progress is coming on the sleep/jet-lag front.
We are currently trying to figure out how to get our luggage shipped to our new house because the domestic flights have way less baggage allowance so it would be ‘coo-coo’ expensive to fly with it. Normally the luggage would just get transferred to the domestic flight as part of the original booking but because we had to stop for quarantine, the domestic leg is its own booking with its own baggage limits. There are several other options we are exploring and I think one of them will work and even make the travel easier by not having to lug around the extra stuff.
Please pray for us on the last part of this journey and then for the moving-in process that will include many projects, adjustments, and lots of newness for us and the girls.
Praise
- For a safe trip.
- That God guided us through each step.
- For quarantine time to rest.
Prayer
- For a fifth (overall) set of negative Covid tests to get out of quarantine.
- Wisdom regarding how to send our luggage.
- For Allegra’s sinus infection to go away.
- For our settling in process coming up.
