We Made It!

March 24, 2020 by Tyler Sanford

Is it possible for a two day trip to go by fast?  We didn’t think so but our long awaited trip went smoothly.  We may not have slept well, but otherwise it went much better than expected.  Our flights were half empty, there were no lines in the airports, and we had a good time with our friends that we traveled with. (One unfortunate detail is that 3 of our 4 totes were significantly damaged in transit–thankfully we don’t think we lost anything though!)

Now we’re here, getting over a case of jet-lag, and settling in to our new home while under a voluntary 14-day quarantine.  The quarantine is in place to try to serve our new community by being extra cautious.  We’re so thankful for our new coworkers here who had our house ready with food and other starter items for us.  They are also doing our grocery shopping for us while we’re shut in.  What service…

9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. –Psalm 139:9-10

Settling in under quarantine means we are quite limited on what we can buy to set up our home, but thankfully it’s temporary.  There has been plenty of “newness” to adjust to: geckos, ants, high humidity, mold, startling bangs on our tin roof from fruit pods falling, etc.).  But it truly is amazing how in just the few days we’ve been here some of these things are beginning to feel normal.

Hopefully we can give you more details soon, but for now: thank you so much for your role in this!  We couldn’t be here without you!

We are lifting each of you up with what you are dealing with in these difficult times.  We’re so thankful that we serve a gracious and powerful Father who keeps His promises and will walk through these valleys with us.  We are in this together, even from afar.

“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
– 1 Corinthians 12:26-27

Please let us know how we can pray for you specifically!

Praise

  • For our safe and better than expected trip.
  • For our coworkers here who have helped us so much.
  • For God’s grace in all the details.

Prayer

  • For our health in this new environment with new food.
  • For wisdom in decisions and as we begin language learning.
  • For grace in this uncertain time of quarantine & not being able to fully set up our home.
  • For our growth in Christ and trust in Him.
