“I’ve never once in my life been unable to sleep because of money in the church. And the reason is, I firmly believe this isn’t my church, this isn’t the elder’s church, this isn’t the deacon’s church. This is Jesus Christ’s church, He’s the lead pastor, so He’s the one who’s gotta worry about it. Our job is simply to teach people to live in obedience to Jesus Christ. It is not my job to twist people’s arms, it’s not my job to guilt people to be more generous. My job as one of your pastors is to stand up here, teach the word of God, give some application, and say “Lets just be obedient to what the God’s Word says.” And I believe that things will take care of themselves.” -Pastor Tony Tice
You can listen to the rest of Tony’s sermon here: Today, I Choose Generosity It was an excellent & convicting teaching Sunday morning as Tony concluded a series in Philippians. In our role, we are asking people to join us financially. As Tony states, our job isn’t to twist people’s arms or guilt people into giving. Our job is to give an application for people’s generosity. Will you join us financially and have a part in seeing the people in Papua New Guinea receive the Gospel of Christ? The decision after that is between you and the Lord.
It’s good to be part of an organization that adequately prepares the workers before sending them into the field. One of those areas is financial, and NTM has laid out practical budgets for us so that we’re not encumbered by money once in the field. There is a wealth of experience and knowledge behind the budgets ensuring that living expenses & ministry expenses are covered while allowing us to be generous to the people we are ministering to and living among.
When you partner with a New Tribes worker, all of your gift goes to that worker, and we then use the money to fund whatever ministry we’re in. For us, some of our support will go towards the new server or network switch. Some will go towards living expenses, rent, food, clothing, and schooling for the children. Some will go to health insurance. Your financial partnership allows us to be effective and generous in the field. For our family, 100% support is $6800/month to cover everything well. Our family’s minimum is 75% or $5100/month before we can plan our departure.
As we closed up November, our family is 66% funded! Our goal is to leave for Papua New Guinea in February 2017. To achieve this goal, we truly need your help.
- Be in prayer with your family about partnering with us financially. We need about 10 more families to join us in December to reach 75% in time to make travel plans. Then another 23 families to reach 100% before we leave.
- Is there someone you know, a family member, a friend, or a church who you’d be willing to share our vision & ministry with?
- Prayer, for our family, for New Tribes, for the team in Papua New Guinea, and ultimately for the unreached souls who need to hear the Gospel of Christ.
