Update and Thankfulness Times 4

May 19, 2026 by Bill and Donna Davis

The Palawano Church in our Old Village

This is a ministry and health update. We’ll organize it around four things we are thankful to God for!

1. We’re thankful for Ministry Progress

In a couple weeks, Bill’s team will be doing final testing of Stages, the CLA (Culture and Language Acquisition) app. The team of programmers have been working very hard to see this happen. Then the formal beta release will come in July! This is an exciting milestone. Before that release we will also have the final documents in the Engage CLA how-to program ready to release, as well. Many different like-minded missions organizations will help with the beta testing as they also want to use these tools to better reach the unreached.

We’re also grateful to hear reports of the growth of the Palawano church in our old village. They are using our New Testament translation, younger men have risen as faithful leaders, they are standing against cults and false teaching, and our home church was able to help them secure more land for ministry purposes!

2. We’re thankful for Health and Strength

The infection on Bill’s left in November end up requiring two weeks in the hospital. The doctors were very concerned (as we were, also)! Praise God Bill was sent home, and after 8 (yes, eight) weeks of IV antibiotics at home, he was as good as new.

Two weeks later he needed to have his gallbladder removed. But that was a piece of cake, and it resolved some long-term issues he’s had! (TMI warning: tor those who like details, the surgeon said, “Many large stones. The largest was the size of a ping pong ball”! 😮)

AND WE ARE VERY EXCITED and thankful that Bill just got approved for a different procedure to try and fix his sinus problem! This has been going on for 3 and a half years. The procedure will be this Friday morning May 22. Please pray it’s effective!

3. We’re thankful for Each Other!

In a few weeks we will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary! We’re so grateful to still be here, still madly in love with each other, still serving the Lord, and enjoying a rich life with awesome kids, grandkids and friends.

4. We’re thankful for YOU!

You are such a big part of our team. We thank God for each of you, for your encouragement, prayers, and/or financial support. You greatly bless us and keep us going!

Why “Heart Languages”?

A person's Heart Language is the language they use to think and to most easily describe their feelings; a message in the heart language will have the deepest impact.

Even people who are skillfully multilingual have only one heart language.

We are committed to the belief that the most effective communication of the gospel and the most fruitful discipling ministry will be done in the heart language of the hearers.
