Tepehuan Teaching Update

February 10, 2015 by Crystal Pierce

Feb. 9, 2015

Candy and I have been really touched, actually overwhelmed, with all the e mails to us, saying that you are with us and are praying. What a huge boost and comfort it is to know there are so many that are invested in this work through prayer! How we all want to see this people group know the joy of forgiveness and freedom in Christ, and give Him praise!

Well, I went to the church well before the time that they said to go, as I sure didn’t want to miss the opportunity. I know how these things go sometimes. I was there from 8:30 till 11:00, when the people finally got through with all their rituals. This Sunday they had to go through all the idols’ clothes and pass them on to the new workers that will be in charge of the idols for the next year. What darkness!

Anyway, to make a long story short, I almost didn’t get a chance to speak. Earlier, when people were still milling around and busy, Damasio, the main leader, turned to an older man and said, “this guy wants to share God’s Word with us.” The other guy didn’t say anything, and I said, “Yes, I’m ready.” But Damasio never actually turned to me and said anything.

Well, at 11:00 when everything was done, they were all about to leave, and so I said, “Can I talk to them now?” Damasio said that he had asked me to speak before, and I didn’t say anything, so now they were all hungry and wanted to leave and go to their houses. Well, as you can imagine I didn’t want to lose the opportunity, so I pressed it a bit, to have them stay. He said that maybe another time, I said that it wouldn’t take that long, you get the picture…

Well, I believe that God answered your prayers, and as you can see below, Damasio did give me the nod and called the rest of the folks over. Candy did all she could except tie the ladies up to get them to stay around. (They were wanting to go make tortillas). God gave me peace, and the folks listened. After I spoke some of the older guys expressed that they affirmed what I was saying, and there was no bad feedback.

The leaders said that they would discuss it and see what they wanted to do.

So, thanks for praying, what a blessing! I was so glad to talk with them as leaders about how Christ is their only hope, and they need to hear what God says to them in their own language.

So, please keep praying that they would have a desire to hear more of what God says and set apart a time to do so.
We will be traveling in to Durango City tomorrow, so please remember us in prayer for that trip.

Blessings to you all, thanks again for being a part of what God is doing in L***s!

Sincerely,
Barry and Candy

Part two:

From email sent: Feb. 25th

Tomorrow we’d appreciate your prayers as we head back out to L***s.
Please be in prayer as we’ll be talking again with the leaders as a follow up to our previous meeting. We are trusting the Lord to work so that we can have a time to begin to share the Word on a regular basis. The
leaders have been very opposed to us sharing anything publicly to this point. We have gone ahead and have been sharing each morning by radio, and will continue to do that, but feel it’s time to begin a regular ‘face to face’ meeting.
