Rotating Labs Part Three

February 27, 2018 by Ernest and Tina Jones

LARGE SYSTEM INSTALLATION

In the third instalment of the rotating labs that we teach the students, we step through with them how to install a Large solar electric system.  In our designs of systems we make a Small, a Medium and a Large.  The Small system uses a smaller fuse box, smaller inverter and smaller battery charger.  This system is made for a single or just a couple that wants to live as simple as possible.  With the Medium and Large systems, the fuse box is larger but the same in both systems.  The biggest difference is the number of charge controllers (what controls the charge coming in from the solar panels going to the batteries), the number of solar panels and the number of batteries.  Both of these systems use a larger inverter/charger to provide AC power and charge the batteries from a generator if needed.  With all these systems they are designed for the user to be completely OFF GRID.  Where we work in remote locations we need this feature of a stand alone system.  Yet they are not just a system that will run a few lights.  These systems will run a complete house hold of 5 or more people without any issues.  It is very similar to living here in North America but with the user being more aware of how much power they are using because they are the ones producing it.

It is a blessing to see how translators are helped through solar and other
technical support you give them, in order to make the work of translating the Bible
faster and more proficient……God bless your team…..Ernest, etal……Glena
