So… if you know us, you know that we’ve always

So… if you know us, you know that we’ve always got a lot going on. But it’s not the kind of “going’s on” that anyone is jealous of. Bethany related someone recently, out of a compassionate impulse, saying “this season will pass” to which she found herself involuntarily laughing and proceeding to cry even harder than she was before they said that. Because if we’re honest, it’s been almost 10 years in this season.

Lately, it’s been intense. We were in the ER last week with one kid and then this week, we’ve been back to the ER twice in two days after Kate, in only her second week of school injured her knee pretty painfully. She’s going to be OK and we think will avoid the need for surgery but will be on crutches and dealing with a slow recovery for the next few weeks. So much for dance class 😔

This season also includes effort on our whole family’s part to work on paying off debt from taking care of Bethany’s Mom last year. We’d love for Bethany to be able to serve in a ministry with Ethnos360 but instead she’s cleaning houses for four days every week (except today cause she’s at the ER).

I could keep going but suffice it to say, we often find ourselves asking God, “How is this glorifying you? How is this a part of us using our lives to serve you?”

I don’t always get an answer I like, but I do have to admire God’s consistency. It’s a consistency that I trust while also pushing back on. It doesn’t have to be done this way, but in sovereign wisdom, He keeps using trials, challenges, lack, loss, and pain as instruments to shape us for something that will outlive all of that.

So, as this song “Backwards Kingdom” plays, I’m embracing, no matter how clunky an embrace, Him. Not the stuff, not the times when the clouds part and heavenly provision shines through (cause that happens too), but the One who is Love and who makes Truth known.

Will you pray for us as we keep looking to Him? We need grace and strength to keep doing the right things during hard times, to keep thinking rightly during in circumstances that feel wrong.

A little over a week ago, on my birthday as it tur

A little over a week ago, on my birthday as it turns out, we had the chance to help launch an event hosted at the Ethnos360 Home Office for young adults in the area: community gathering to worship, play, engage with God’s heart for all nations (thanks to the awesome David Rimestad!), and maybe eat a little too. Global Gatherings got off to a sweet start and we are anticipating next months event.

September 9th, Sanford Florida, Come and get a shot of good community & great commission!

2 years late, but better late than never. Jack and

2 years late, but better late than never. Jack and I took these shots at a gorgeous sunset on the 4th of July back in 2022. We were with good friends from our House Church at the time at their house on the St. John’s river.

Jack was playing around with his DSLR and I was helping him figure out settings to take low-light pictures and some of these came out really fun and a few stunning. I edited one of the wide sunsets he shot and it reminded me of how good an eye for composition he has. The night was also Owen’s first chance to light fireworks. 😅
