In our previous episode…
Joel was between a trip to the Arctic and a trip to the Tropics. Owen just graduated and we kicked off a full summer. Gear up, we’ve got a lot to talk about!
Since then…
Joel’s been all over the world. He logged almost 25,000 miles in the air between mid-April and mid-June. Bethany’s logged almost that many miles just driving our kids around central Florida during a very busy summer 😉.

What did Joel do on those trips? He shot thousands of photos and recorded hours of footage all for numerous projects. While in the Canadian arctic he had the chance to meet two families who are trusting the Lord to do the impossible as they learn the culture and language of the Inuit people hoping to root themselves into the community with the hope of teaching the Bible foundationally and in their own tongue, Inuktitut. Joel’s photos accompanied the feature article of the most recent issue of the Ethnos360 Magazine and if you don’t already get a copy in the mail, you can read the whole thing here.
He’s had some written work in the magazine before but to have photos like his in the article and on the cover was a highlight!
We’ll be sharing more about his two trips in some coming posts in the Potter Mission Facebook Group, so watch out for those there.
We need an increase in our monthly financial support:
As medical bills and expensive, self-funded health insurance, as well as house repairs add up, our monthly budget vs. what we receive is way out of balance. We continue to witness God provide for us and we believe that as long as He calls us to live this way, He will provide. And so, we invite you to pray with us for new folks to join our team of supporters and for some of our current team to increase their giving. If you would like to be a part of this team, you can start by clicking the button below.
BUT sometimes ministry looks like … not ministry For Bethany, as overused as the term “season” is, this season has looked differentiated than hoped. After her bout of pneumonia last Autumn, her body never fully recovered and she contracted pneumonia twice since then including while Joel was in the Philippines. And after Owen continued to get bout after bout of sinus infection and viruses, they both had blood work done revealing some immune system deficiencies.
Bethany hasn’t been able to work with the Mobilization team since March because of that! And while that’s hard for her, it’s not something she’s fighting. Our Heavenly Father has taught us SO MUCH about contentment and the choice to trust His GOODNESS no matter how NOT GOOD our circumstances are. So, instead of waiting for the season to change, we just walk through it. Will you pray for grace and patience as we seek out more medical knowledge and work to get back to better health?

Coming up…
Back to school: Kate will start 10th grade in less than a month! Pray for her to stay healthy!
New jobs: Jack needs a new job and Owen is settling in to his new job but needs more hours. Pray for a well-fitting job for Jack and for their health too.
And a season of creation: The coming few months involve many big video projects that are long overdue. Pray for Joel and his team to have wisdom and creativity and the help needed.
That’s a wrap on another episode of the Potter Mission. Keep an eye on our Facebook group for more about Joel’s trips and some other projects he has been working on.
We are grateful that we can see God’s Provision in you as you partner with us.
