Day 2: Hardin, MT to Strasburg, CO

August 15, 2012 by Jordan Husband

Trip so far: 17hr 08min, 1160.6 mi
Today: 8:29am MST to 7:37pm MST

Titus, Amy, and Elayne sit on our Kamping Kabin's outdoor rocking bench - so glad to be done with the day's drive!
SO-O-O glad to be out of the minivan!
A much earlier arrival today means more sleep tonight… but only after playtime! Our 7:30 arrival gave Elayne and Titus time to run off energy on the playground before bed, making life easier for Mom and Dad too. Today’s drive was only eight hours to yesterday’s ten, and the next two days will clock in at just under six apiece. The kids are already looking forward to tomorrow’s promise of a later start, longer breaks, and (weather permitting) pool time!

A few highlights from the day’s drive:

  • Coffee. (Yes, this counts as a highlight on its own! But doubly so since purchased at the same place I visited with my Dad when driving home from Missouri in May.)
  • Both kids napping at the same time!
  • Our cupholder breaking, only two days after getting it installed! (We think it might be repairable, fortunately)
  • A toll road that didn’t have a toll… ONLY on the PRECISE exit we needed to take!
  • Arriving while the sun was still up… the most amazing red color, too, thanks to all the smog!

However, if you know me very well, then you probably already know what the true highlight of the day was: a text from my good friend Matt, informing me that King Felix had thrown a perfect game for the Seattle Mariners. 🙂 (If you hadn’t heard… go to THIS LINK, read the article, and watch the video.) I’ve been a Mariners fan my entire life, and hearing that Felix shut down 27 consecutive Rays definitely made my day!

All in all, Amy and I are very grateful to the Lord for a second consecutive easy travel day. He’s been very merciful to us as we trek toward Oklahoma, and we can’t wait to see what He’ll bring with a new day tomorrow!

Good Morning!!! Praise the Lord for another day!!! Sounds like all is well, except for the cup holder…..
Loving hearing all about your travels and loved hearing, in person, through your call about the
Mariners and King Felix’s perfect game!!! Quite the excitement here in Seattle area!!

You don’t know it, but I’m going on this trip with you. Just look on top of your van and I’ll be there
wheeeeeeeeeeeee!! Missing you, loving you and praying you through!!! Remember the Rock of your
Salvation because He is remembering you!!!!

Take care, keep cool (90″s in Bremerton today) and be happy! Give those adorable kids a hug from
GiGi and tell Laynie that I’m missing her story time each day too, but when you get back, we’ll do
it again….Titus too! Loving you and praying too, Grammie/GiGi TO GOD BE THE GLORY

So thankful to hear all the great news! Yes, we thought of you Jordan as we hooped and hollered with the King Felix news! 🙂 God is good to give you such travel mercies and I know He will continue to bless you along the way. I loved the “napping at the same time” one! Prayers continue and much love being sent to all four of you!
