Day 3: Strasburg, CO to Salina, KS

August 16, 2012 by Jordan Husband

Trip so far: 22hr 49min, 1557.6 mi
Today: 9:28am MST to 5:33pm CST

Elayne and Titus, each holding one of the kittens we encountered in Salina.
Nothing's more fun than KITTIES!
Swimming was postponed today on account of kittens! Our arrival at the KOA was followed by encountering two young kittens running through the parking lot… and after we caught them and played with them for a few minutes, they followed us around everywhere. On our porch, around our van, into our cabin… they even followed us out to the pool (although they didn’t come in for some reason), and waited for us outside the bathroom. What fun!

Our drive today, only six hours from Colorado, went MUCH more quickly than the previous two days! Elayne and Titus continue to do well, and we’ve been greatly encouraged by how they’ve responded during the long car rides. Amy and I enjoyed another of John Hunter’s messages (this time on the importance of thankfulness in our walk with God), and enjoyed several games and sing-a-longs while we drove.

While we couldn’t imagine how this trip could be progressing any better, we are all definitely anticipating its (short-term) end! Tomorrow will not only end with our arrival in Tahlequah (Lord willing), but grant us an opportunity to visit with the kids’ Auntie Taylor (soon to be officially!) along the way. Her proximity to our temporary home in Oklahoma will be a great blessing, and we hope to visit Taylor and her family a few times before she and Amy’s brother Josh are married this November.

That’s about it for today! One more daily ‘as-we-travel’ post tomorrow, and we’ll be back to our usual about-once-a-week post schedule. Thanks so much for coming along with us as we’ve travelled… your comments, emails, and calls have been a huge encouragement to our family!

Good Morning Jordan, Amy, Elayne and Titus! I hope the kittens had a good night too! What fun that God
allows along the way!!! PTL I’m so thankful that things are going well for all of you. God is sooooo good!
Glad you enjoyed another tape by Dr. John Hunter. I can hardly wait until mine arrive so I can enjoy them
with you! I sent you my copies because the others I ordered didn’t get here in time and I really wanted you
to have them for this trip! When mine come, I’ll be enjoying them right along with you! Also the sing-a-longs are so much fun. I can just hear you all singing together as my family used to do. Those songs
are the ones I used to use when I had children’s choirs at church. The kids loved them then and I know
kids still do today. I’m wishing I could give you all a big hug right now, but you’ll just have to get it over the
wire. It’s so fun to start my day by reading your blog! Thank you and bless you. Have a great day!!!
Loving you and Praying too, Grammie
