This was one of those times where our plans for the week were suddenly and unexpectedly rearranged by something else God had in mind: in this case, the birth of our nephew, Timothy James Greenslade! Arriving early Wednesday morning at 6 lbs 3 oz and measuring 19 inches long, Timothy was a couple weeks earlier than anticipated but no less welcome for his haste! Baby and mom are home and well, for which we are very thankful.
Our family made a somewhat significant decision this week regarding how we should spend our time while preparing for ministry in Mexico. Amy has been working part-time at Camp Spaulding for some time, which has been a great experience in many ways! Yet we have found that Amy’s absence has impacted our partnership development more profoundly than we’d expected – taking both her time and mine (as I take the kids for the duration of her shift) away from the effort of preparing for Mexico. Amy’s two shifts this week highlighted that incongruity clearly for us, especially alongside the time she also spent helping Josh and Taylor with Timothy’s birth. We have chosen instead to invest our time into ministry and discipling opportunities, when not working directly on building our team of ministry partners for Mexico. That being said… I have greatly enjoyed the extra time with my kids this week, and thank God for providing so much of it!
Last Sunday, our family had the privilege of reporting our progress toward Mexico directly to the congregation of Newport Southern Baptist Church. These guys are the newest church to stand alongside us, and work with us as partners to spread the Gospel in Mexico! We are so grateful for the time we’ve had with them, and counted it a huge privilege to update them on how God had been working through us these past few months.
We are amazed and humbled to report that, during this past week, our incoming monthly support grew from 38% of our field budget to 42%. It’s awesome to watch God at work!
Praising God: for giving Timothy to our family, and for the health of both he and his mom. God does amazing things, and Timothy is a daily testimony to that fact!
Prayer Request: please pray for increased opportunities to share God’s Word here in Spokane… or maybe just increased awareness of opportunities God is already providing!
