Our family’s final pre-Mexico trip to Seattle has come to an end! Our intended purposes in going were accomplished: we updated existing partners, visited with friends and family, and shared our vision for ministry with several individuals and churches along the way. With only two weeks remaining until our permanent (for now!) departure from Spokane, we are ready to get back to work on the packing/loading side of our preparations!
However, the pivotal point of our trip ended up being the way it concluded. My sister in law, Jennifer, had been dealing with abdominal pain for several days. This was doubly worrisome because we recently learned that she is 6 weeks pregnant. Amy and I felt that God was leading us to remain with them for an additional day, as they needed (otherwise unavailable) help watching their kids to figure out what was going on.
As it turned out, Jennifer had an emergency appendectomy that next day (Monday). Our presence provided someone to watch their two young kids during her surgery and transition into recovery. Others were available to step into the gap after that first day; we were simply grateful to be available to meet that need during the 24 hours when no one else was available.
Ways you can pray (please do!)
- Jennifer’s recovery is going well, but it is painful. Her appendix burst before the surgery, perhaps days before.
- Please pray for the baby. All is as well as it can be post-surgery at this point, but there has been a ton of stress and trauma and there will be inflammation and other complications as well moving forward. Please do take some time to pray that the baby would grow safely in Jennifer’s womb, come to full term, and be born healthy.
- Josh needs to get back to work for many reasons. Please also pray for him, for Jennifer in his absence, and for their kids (who are now spending much time with both grandmas).
- Also, please pray for my sister Jenica. She is having an MRI tonight to figure out an ongoing series of issues. There is a certain risk of a serious diagnosis.
As well, Amy and I would be very grateful for your prayers on our own behalf! We are super limited on time, and have a ton to do: from arranging travel plans to packing and loading, on to legal paperwork and much more! Please pray for our family, our stress levels, and our reliance on the Lord during these final weeks in Washington. We also appreciate your prayers over our remaining partnership needs – God is faithful, and we’re excited to see how He moves next!
