Dear Prayer Partners,
We trust this finds each of you encouraged in the Lord and resting in Him. These are exciting days to be alive and serving the Lord.
Earlier this month, Sonà and his wife Janet returned from one of the outreaches. They had been gone for 3 weeks and returned rejoicing in the Lord for all He is doing there. Sonà shared, “We were privileged to be involved in a baptism as well as visit some people who are hearing the gospel for the first time.”
Please continue to pray for the churches in these distant villages. We rejoice in the work God is doing in each place.
Last week we went to the city for routine medical attention. Praise the Lord everything checked out ok.
Down through the years we have been using hand-wind cassette tape players quite successfully. This does not replace the teachers but is a tremendous blessing to those who cannot read. Using the players, they review the teaching they heard in the meetings.
However, problems exist with these players; When returned for repair, there is usually a colony of cockroaches living inside. You wouldn’t think they could survive on the wire coating and the paper on the speakers but they do! Also, the cassette tapes grow mold on them and eventually need replacing.
We believe we have an answer to those problems. The same company that makes the hand wind cassette players has sent us 2 Saber MP3 players. The company wants us to test them and give our input. Since our return to the village earlier this week, we began recording the Higaunon New Testament in MP3 format.
We’ll put the New Testament and the evangelistic teaching lessons on these machines and send them out to two locations to see how they fare. With these units, there are no cassettes to grow mold on and with a little creativity we think we can keep the cockroaches from taking up residence inside. Thank you for praying for us; your part in this ministry is vital!
Secure in Christ’s love,
Lance & Laura
