Monday morning, the start of a new week; but here in the valley, it’s not just any week! Today is the official beginning of traditional rice harvest season.
During the past number of weeks, people have been busy preparing for the harvest; weaving materials have been gathered and dried; baskets and drying mats have been woven.
They will celebrate the harvest with a thanksgiving meal this coming Saturday; giving thanks to God for His provision for their needs.
There’s another crop that’s being harvested. A crop of souls! We are rejoicing over the reports we’ve received lately from the Higaunon outreaches as well as other locations where other missionaries are working.
A missionary couple working on this island asked for input into the lessons they develop for new listeners. Lance has been checking those over the past number of months. They presented the gospel last month.
Here’s a portion of their recent letter “…we had a pretty encouraging day today. Al came to help James with this lesson you have just looked at and it really started hitting home to him that he has broken God’s laws over and over and there is no way he can pay for that by his "good" works. He talked about Jesus paying for his sins on the cross and seemed to be getting the significance of Jesus taking his place.
Then Nela came to help with the lesson and she had quite a few great things to say. It really does seem like she is saved and she is even saying that herself. She is developing a burden for others who still don’t believe the truth…”
Praise the Lord with us for these new believers!
However, there are many in this world who have yet to hear the gospel. They need for someone to tell them the good news of Christ’s substitutionary death for them. We praise the Lord for those who are being saved and we continue pray for more laborers who will be committed to take the good news to those who have yet to hear.
The Apostle Paul said that some do not have the knowledge of God! Jesus commanded us to pray for laborers for the harvest field.
While we’re thankful for the harvest, would you please pray with us for laborers?
