From across the northern Higaunon territory many will soon be arriving for the Bible teachers’ seminar.
Wandi had been planning on attending and sent a gift of money to help with expenses. Although a Higaunon, he and his wife, Angga, have been involved in the Cebuano church (the language spoken in the towns and cities on our island). He has been leading Bible studies and preaching in different outreaches whenever and wherever he could. A few weeks ago he shared on the security of the believer!
Last Monday that security became a realization for him as he entered the presence of the Lord he loved and served. He was buried today with about 200 people on hand; some of them attending out of curiosity and others to support the family. Whatever their motive for attending, they all heard the gospel and were challenged with the truth.
Mampakasyun, one of Wandi’s half brothers passed away 2 weeks before he did. Wandi attended his burial but there was something missing – HOPE! He had heard the truth in the early ‘80’s but then turned his back on it returning to his old religion of sacrificing pigs and chickens to the spirit world.
Pray – With these two deaths fresh on their minds, please pray as the church leaders and Bible teachers gather this week, that they would have a renewed vision of their purpose; getting the gospel to those who’ve not yet heard and seeing the church grow in their walk with Christ.
Pray – Ron and Lance will be taking advantage of this time with all the visitors here to investigate the differences in the two sub-dialects. We need to decide if there is a need for three separate printings or perhaps with a few minor vocabulary changes we’ll only need one printing of the Higaunon New Testament.
Thank you all so much for your part in this ministry!
