We had such a wonderful time with members from our sending church in Florida who came to help out at our annual conference. Pastor Anthony George was the guest speaker and the others helped out with the children’s programs. God was glorified and we left conference encouraged and blessed with the messages God lead Pastor Anthony to share. David Barker and Valerie Brewer, two members of the team, came with us into the village to see where we’ve been ministering all these years. They left earlier today.
One of those “God things!”
We sent a plain text email to our update list about 24 hours ago asking prayer that the weather would clear so our pilot, Garry Barkman could fly David and Valerie to town.
We realize now just how much God was at work in our situation.
When Garry Barkman flew us in the other day with Valerie and David, we asked him to stay a bit so Lance could find out the situation with the electricity. We knew there was a problem but figured it would be an easy fix. Well, it wasn’t easy and Garry offered to spend the night if we thought we would need him to.
What a blessing this turned out to be!! Garry helped Lance get the stand-by inverter working and then yesterday it rained and kept him grounded. We woke up during the night last night to rain and wondered just what today would bring. Valerie and David have a flight to catch and you don’t want to miss an international flight!! Praise the Lord for the extra day we planned!
There is no way we would have called Garry in today but since he was already here, he was able to take off with our guests when the opportunity arose. He had initially started the engine when it looked clear but the clouds rolled in rather quickly and kept him on the ground for another 2 hours. When there was a break, they took off and none too soon as the rain and wind started again and it has kept up most of the day.
Praise God for keeping Garry here for 2 nights! God had the timing down just right for getting Valerie and David to town.
Home assignment
We are planning a home assignment (a.k.a. furlough) starting in March. Our Nicole is expecting the first part of April and we are planning on being there for the birth of the baby. Please pray for us as we get our itinerary arranged between now and then. We want to give our report to as many of you as we can. We have much to share!
Secure in Christ’s love,
Lance & Laura
