Is God Awesome or what!?
One of our neighbors stopped by wanting change for a thousand peso bill. That’s the largest denomination available and is difficult to change here in the mountains. Consequently we don’t like to give that kind of change but we’re leaving here soon and furthermore, he wanted to buy a Bible. How could we refuse!?
As I was counting out change we started asking each other – “where did Mansumintik, of all people, come up with a thousand peso bill?” Of course right off the bat we thought “illegal logging!” Where else can they get that kind of money around here?
So, as i was giving him his change I’m thinking “this is from logs” but I didn’t ask.
He was just about to leave and he turned and started sharing with me how he got that money.

... he was almost bit by the pig caught in the snare trap!
He said, “I’ve been asking God for the money to purchase a Bible. A voice kept telling me not to worry about it.” He explained how he kept hearing this voice telling him that the provision for a Bible was close.
He didn’t understand how that could be. He is very poor and to him it was “impossible!” But, as he was walking, he was checking his pig traps. The one he was approaching didn’t show any sign of having anything in it as there were no tracks leading up to it. As soon as he stepped into the area he had to jump back for he was almost bit by a pig caught in the snare trap!
He butchered it and took the meat to a neighboring village and sold it 2300 pesos! (That is a lot of money for these people!)
I had shared earlier that morning in their fellowship meeting about God b
being all-powerful and how we really don’t believe that. We worry about one thing or another and the thought that God is all-powerful does not come to mind in the midst of our trials.
We don’t realize how much the Creator of the universe loves us and wants to meet our every need. Mansumintik told me how this was a blessing to him and it was fresh on his mind that God is indeed ALL POWERFUL!
I stand rebuked!
We covet your prayers for us as we prepare for our home assignment (a.k.a furlough). There is a lot to do before we close up our house next week.
Lord willing we arrive March 3rd in Florida and we’ll be making our way north to be with Justin and Nicole in mid March. She is hoping to schedule her C-Section for April 2.
Please pray for us as we adjust to being back in the US and as we shop for a reliable vehicle. There is much to trust God for but after all HE IS ALL POWERFUL!!
Secure in Christ’s love,
