1 Peter 3:12a For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers…
Home again
Greetings from our Oklahoma home! We arrived back on US soil three weeks ago, Wednesday June 5th. The Lord blessed our time in Portland, Oregon with a dear friend Mark Myers (pictured below) who picked us up at the airport, drove us around to see some of the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, took us to breakfast, then to Lance’s cousin Renie’s place. We spent the day with her before continuing our trip to Dallas that night. A friend from our local church picked us up at the airport and took us home on the afternoon of Thursday the 6th. Thank you for praying for our travels.
Road trip #1
After giving ourselves a few days to get over jet-lag we drove to Houston, Texas, to visit with friends and Laura’s oldest brother Steve and his wife, Judy. We had a wonderful time there.
Ugh – our health
Laura had a UTI after we got back from the Philippines, but got the all clear after 10 days of antibiotics. Lance came down with a virus this past weekend, so he’s been feeling miserable (fever, coughing but feeling better as I type this). Thank you for praying for our health.
Time with Ean
On our way home from Houston we picked up our grandson Ean. We celebrated his 16th birthday with him (his actual birthday is June 19th) and enjoyed time with him over a couple of days. We sure do miss his dad being here (our son, Robert) We rejoice that Robert’s house finally sold. Thank you for praying for our family.
Road trip #2
We are scheduled to leave home this Thursday – heading to Western New York, to see family and partners in the ministry to the Higaunon. Please pray for safe travels and that we will be a blessing to all we are with.
From Westfield we are scheduled to go to Central New York to have a meeting and visit our daughter’s in-laws. After just a couple nights there we’ll head further east to New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and then make our way back ‘home’ – visiting, sharing the exciting things God has done and is doing in us and among the Higaunon.
Our schedule:
June 30 10:45 AM First Baptist Church in Westfield, NY
July 7 10:30 AM Brocton Baptist Church in Brocton, NY
July 14 7:00 PM First Baptist in Memphis, NY (near Syracuse)
July 21 7:00 PM Bethel Community Church Deptford, NJ
Work
Lance is currently working on translation. He’s comparing companion passages from 1 Samuel 31 and 2 Samuel with 1 Chronicles. Everything that is the same will be copied and pasted into 1 Chronicles and those things that are different will mean a closer look at how we’re translating both passages. (Look at 1 Samuel 31:13 and 1 Chronicles 10:12 for an example) Please pray for wisdom for him in this challenging work. We know God is more interested in getting His word translated for the Higaunon people than we are – but we along with our coworkers, Ron & Michelle Jennings, are the ones entrusted with the task!
There is much to pray for. Aren’t you glad that God hears our prayers? Thank you for praying for us and partnering with us in the work that God has given us to do.
Secure in Christ’s love,
Lance & Laura
