Of time, traveling and translation

February 8, 2020 by Lance and Laura Ostman

Lance and his translation assistant

Time is flying by. We arrived in Manila late night of the 22nd of January and two days later we flew down to the island we’ve called ‘home’ since 1982. January 26th we marked 38 years here since our arrival in the Philippines. God is faithful and we give all praise, honor and glory to HIM for what HE has done in and through our lives and for the Higaunon people, church and His Word being translated for them.

Traveling: We arrived in the village January 31st. It took a few days to start feeling settled in. Ron and Michelle left us for a few days after we got back to do a bit of shopping and have a change of scenery. Our Internet has been off and on, we’ve had a lot of rain (not sure if that has anything to do with the Internet being sketchy!) When the pilot came in to get Ron & Michelle he brought in a sling load. You can see the video on YouTube by clicking here. Every time we see that helicopter we can only praise God for His provision of it, the beautiful hangar our aviation department has, and for our aviation families; the pilots, wives and mechanics. What a HUGE BLESSING they are to us all.

Translation: Lance and his translation assistant got right into working on the initial check on Nehemiah. It’s a relatively short book so it only took three days. His assistant has a printed copy to go over it again and give him any feedback.

It won’t be long and Ron, Michelle and Lance along with their translation assistants will begin the final comprehension checks on several Old Testament books. Do pray for good health for all and clear minds, stamina – all they and the translation assistants need. It will be a very intense time.

Thank you for praying for us and the work. Words are not adequate to express our gratitude for each of you, your prayers and financial partnership in this work.

Secure in Christ’s love alone,

Lance & Laura
