Changes

May 18, 2019 by Lance and Laura Ostman

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Life Change

The SYIS workshop in Manila is history and we want to thank each of you who faithfully prayed for us during that week. There were twenty two participants and six facilitators. We expected four facilitators until about a week before the workshop started when we were asked if we would be willing to have a couple join us so they could get more experience. What a tremendous week it was for both participants and facilitators.

Twenty two participants and six facilitators. What a great week we had!

Here’s what one participant shared: “It was a life-changing experience for me as I had the chance to really evaluate myself and dig into the issues of my heart and on how my brokenness affects the way I treat others. I see the need to really battle within me and allow the love of God to really transform me to be more loving and really value people more.”

In the village

After the workshop we returned to the village. There were a few things we needed to do with the translation work and some physical work to be done on the house.

As we shared in our last update, we finished the comprehension checking of 1st and 2nd Kings but we needed to read through it again looking for anything that may have been missed and changes had to be made. Thank you for praying for us in this. It’s a lot of work!

Some visitors from a similar language group were here for a couple of nights with the missionary who works there. These two groups have enjoyed good fellowship over the years and are a blessing to one another. The Higaunon church holds a seminar every year during the month of May. This year, there’s a big change as it’s going to be held in the village these visitors came from. Their languages have some rather challenging differences; the Higaunon word for sufficient is their word for temporary! Can you imagine, the sufficiency of Christ being thought of as temporary? Please pray that they’ll have a good week together.

Travel

God willing we’ll be leaving the village May 30th to spend a couple of days in town and then we head to Manila. These days will be spent visiting with friends and then, we leave Manila June 5 for the US.

Thank you!

Again, we are so very thankful to each of you who pray and give towards this ministry. Praise the Lord that we have accomplished all our goals during our time here.

Secure in Christ’s love,

Lance and Laura

And if you’re still reading this… Below is another change in progress. Termites have been busy in a main floor beam in our house. We’re praying that it gets fixed before we leave later this month.
