“Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven.” — Jesus
As some of you might know, the Mengen believers have been suffering some persecution recently.
On Sunday 8thApril the Mengen believers in our village where just fininshing up their time of worship as they celeberated easter. Then as they were dispersing an unbeliever came and accused us that what we were doing here in the village is false and untrue and as a result a fight broke out during which one of the believers’ houses where damagaed and he was assaulted severely.
Then other unbelievers of whom one is called Merengi under the influence of home brew confronted the other people in the village who were attending church and threatened them. The violance escalated so much so that we needed our wifes and children removed from the village and the security personall were flown in to stabalise the sitauation.
Right now the situation is quiet but not stable back in the village because there were fear being felt by mothers, girls and small school children that after we returned the suspect will come out from his hide out and terrorized them. He had made threats earlier towards the NTM workers and other villagers who support their work here.
Please keep on praying for the Mengen believers as they learn to stand even in times of persecution.
“This temporal and brief suffering, how shall it be exchanged for the reward of a bright and eternal honor!” — St. Cyprian of Carthage
