The Wilsons made it home! Again. We just spent July and into August on the road, but you already knew that. We had a great time seeing family and friends all along the way (some 4,700+ miles). Our route included stays (other than hotels) in Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska. On our way west we stopped in Indianapolis for a very cool kids museum. We also got to spend a week in Crested Butte, CO for some family time in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
Praise the Lord the car did great (thank you Paul’s mom & dad for loaning it to us) and our only “problem” was the windshield needed resealed when we got to Lincoln, NE. No! I was not driving too fast!
A highlight of our travels was two weeks staying with friends in Colorado. While there we were able to squeeze in a visit with a dear friend and supporter just days before she was promoted to Heaven. Bitter sweet times!
Unfortunately we had to call the trip short just after getting back to Paul’s parents in Parsons, KS. Andrea’s mom, Diana, had fallen coming out of a doctors appointment back in Maryland and the family needed us back home quickly.
Deja vu! All over again. We did this last time we were visiting Paul’s parents during Christmas 2016. However, this time it was not life threatening so we did not drive straight through as that was pretty hard on us and took days to recover from.
Diana has broke her left upper arm in several places. Doctor’s orders: immobilize it in a sling. After several painful weeks the bones are starting to heal. PTL! No surgery at this time.
Due to this family emergency we missed about 50% of our planned visits. We will keep all of you posted as to when we can reschedule any or all of these.
On the road again!
Paul will head up to Michigan for a Missions Conference at one of our supporting churches in late September. We had planned to go as a family, but things change. With homeschooling, mom’s healing and other appointments we have decided that it will only be Paul going. Please pray for his safety and for wisdom as he shares with the people about what God is accomplishing in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Bible Studies & Connecting
It’s that time of year again. With the start of the new school year comes all the church activities. Pray for us as we jump into various opportunities offered at our home/sending church of South Potomac Church here in southern Maryland. We do want to connect on an individual basis as well as grow spiritually together with our brother and sisters in Christ. However, we do need to strike a balance in all this. Therefore we desire to do the right things and not just be “busy”. Pray we have open hearts and listen to the Lord’s directing.
