Jackie’s Asian Mission Trip Introductory Letter – Sept., 2007

September 15, 2007 by Phil and Jackie

Jackie is excited about going on an upcoming mission trip. Find out where she wants to go in December by reading this months update.

I wanted to share with you an exciting opportunity that the Lord has opened up for me (Jackie). As you know, we have been home from the mission field for three years. We are still involved in support mission work here in Florida but my heart is still ‘on the mission field.’ Our church is sponsoring a mission trip to a country in southeast Asia to present the Gospel to folks there and I feel that the Lord would have me go be a part of that ministry. We will  teach English in several college classes.

Our trip is planned for right after Christmas. We will leave December 26th and return January 5th – a total of 11days.

Our group consists of about 20-30 college age students and adults. During our time there we will make a presentation in a university English class. We will also do a Christmas drama, and a Backyard Bible Club. We will sleep and eat in the college dorm so should be able to interact with the students.

If you are interested, there are a couple of ways you could be involved in this ministry. One way to is to be a partner in prayer with me for this trip. You could pray for our team’s health and safety, for unity, that God would keep us seeking Him in humility. Pray that the people we come in contact with will be open and ready to receive God’s love, as well as our own hearts to be open to what God has to teach us. I could give you updated prayer requests as they come up.

Another way would be to help with the finances for the trip. Financially, I am unable to go on the trip unless the Lord provides the money through folks interested in this type of ministry. If you feel that you would like to have a part in this ministry either financially or prayerfully (or both), that would be a real blessing! I have included the details of the trip for your information. The trip will cost $2,000. This seems like an impossible amount to raise. As a missionary for many years, however, I have experienced the Lord meeting my needs in the past, so I am going to trust Him to do the same now. Any checks can be sent to me but made out to Central Baptist Church. You will receive a tax deductible receipt. If, for some reason, I am not able to go on the trip, any money donated on my behalf would not be returned but would be given to another team member who needs additional funds.

I am looking forward to what the Lord has to teach me on this trip as I know it will not only be a time of sharing our faith but a spiritually growing time for me. I hope to be a blessing to my teammates, as well. I’ll keep you informed of the trip plans.

In Christ,

Jackie
