Christ’s birthday is coming closer and we would like to write you a little bit of the big changes that are ahead of us as we are approaching the new year.
Ralf, Mimi and I will move back into the Dinangat tribe on January 15th while Naomi and Rebekka will move into the dorm here on the Missions Center on January 13th. Never did we think that we would actually do this! And even though the thought of leaving them here and being separated as a family like this turns my stomach upside down, God’s peace is bigger and deeper than ever before. As a family we are very sure that this is God’s plan for us right now and this gives us the courage to actually do it. We know that it won’t be easy but we also know that… his unfailing love is higher than the heavens… and his faithfulness reaches to the clouds (Psalm108:4). He, our Lord is the reason for our life, our family, our work. He started it all and He will finish it, too! AND He will do it WELL!!!
Naomi and Rebekka would like to share a little bit how they are feeling about this big family-change… Rebekka gets to start:
“I am looking forward to living in the dorm and to living together and spending time with my friends there. I am also excited about my new room that I will share with my sister and just about this new adventure. Altogether we will be 11 kids in the dorm. Four of them are the kids of the dorm parents, Uncle Mark and Aunt Holly. I get along well with both of them and I am excited about getting to know them more. Sophia is a good friend of mine and she is also in my class. She will also move into the dorm in January and I thank God for that. I like all the other kids from the dorm a lot and am looking forward to having lots of fun with them. But I am also a bit worried about not being together with my parents anymore. But I will try to get closer to my God and to become more dependent on Him. I am also glad that I can be together with my sister in all this. And I will really miss being in the tribe where I grew up. But thankfully we can always go there in our school breaks. So far school is going well and I think I can manage without my parents as far as that goes. Overall I am just excited about this new adventure! :)”
“I, Naomi, am also very excited about living in the dorm. In the last few months I went there a lot to do homework together with the teens there and I have loved hanging out with them. Joanna especially became a really good friend of mine. She is in a lot of my classes and so I am glad I can do all that homework together with her. The family that is in charge of the dorm is a really neat family, I already like them a lot. They are always there for the kids and always have great ideas of making things fun living together. I am a bit worried though that I maybe won’t be able to concentrate on school work as I need to. Or when I am not feeling well… I won’t be able to just go to my parents and cry with them or just talk things out with them. But I hope that this will bring me closer to God and that I will learn that He is everything that I need. I am excited about experiencing God in this new way and hope to make lots of new precious memories! :)”
Thank you for your prayers for us as a family, we need you!
Merry CHRISTmas to you all! Let us all celebrate JESUS, our Lord and Savior and King!!!
For His Glory, the Schlegels.
